If you have been following my blow for a while now you’ll know that i don’t write about stand up much, it’s not that i don’t enjoy stand up, in fact i love stand up, but it’s so complicated to write about, with something as personal as comedy it’s hard to give something a definitive score. For example i don’t really enjoy a lot of Richard Pryor’s stand up, i like some of his stuff but a lot feels kinda long winded and eh, but 90% of people love all his work.
So, Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction. This was the first special i watched from Mr Williams, and me in 2016 doesn’t enjoy it the same way me in 2010/11 did, Weapons of Self Destruction is funny, it’s really funny, but a lot of jokes just feel easy and safe, Williams never really strays too far from whats expected from him, which is kind of disappointing. Weapons of Self Destruction is definitely worth a watch, it’s a pleasant surprise the first time you watch it but does not hold up over time. Weapons of Self Destruction is a 7/10.
In 2016 i will be watching 365 films (yes, i know there are 366 days this year) and writing about how I felt about them, I decided to do this just because over the last year or so i’ve Sort of pulled away from film and I wanna start to enjoy watching movies again. This will normally be just notes I made or thoughts I have about the film.
