The Drum Doctor is a documentary about Ross Garfield AKA The Drum Doctor, i’m willing to bet you’ve never heard of him but i can guarantee that you will have heard a song his drums have been used on.
until watching this documentary i had no idea that people like ross existed, i mean what’s the point in renting a drum set? surely record labels and studios can afford to buy a few extra sets every now and then. But obviously that’s not the point, you don’t get instantly recognisable drum sounds by accident, I dont just mean some obscure sounds either, i’m talking about the opening to in bloom by Nirvana all the way to Micheal Jackson.
The Drum Doctor is a great documentary about something you wouldn’t really know about unless you looked for it, if you like music documentaries like Sound City this is definitely for you. The Drum Doctor is a 8/10.
In 2016 i will be watching 365 films (yes, i know there are 366 days this year) and writing about how I felt about them, I decided to do this just because over the last year or so i’ve Sort of pulled away from film and I wanna start to enjoy watching movies again. This will normally be just notes I made or thoughts I have about the film.
