Castello Cavalcanti was the first Wes Anderson short I watched, I remember watching The Grand Budapest Hotel when it came out and then going on a total Anderson short film binge.
Needless to say Cavalcanti is full of your typical Anderson charm and attention to detail, the colours and environment in this film are absolutely beautiful, as you’d expect they almost become a character in themselves. Anderson uses colour to show change in tone and mood but doesn’t beat you over the head with it, this is a light hearted short film after all not a 3 hour Michael Mann action drama. Cavalcanti flows so perfectly and fluidly that when the 10 minutes are up you feel a little surprised, you’re so engrossed in these character and the location that you just wanna find out more about their lives and their backstory. Calevanti is a fun little short that is the gem in the Wes Anderson short film crown, 8/10.
In 2016 i will be watching 365 films (yes, i know there are 366 days this year) and writing about how I felt about them, I decided to do this just because over the last year or so i’ve Sort of pulled away from film and I wanna start to enjoy watching movies again. This will normally be just notes I made or thoughts I have about the film.
