365 films in 2016: film 28 (Big Trouble In Little Chinatown 1986)

Big Trouble In Little Chinatown is your dime a dozen 80s action movie, I went into this film blind because I was actually going to watch Chinatown but all I had on me was this so I thought, oh well this’ll do.

Big Trouble In Little Chinatown isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just kind of really predictable and bland, you have your stereotypical arrogant mullet wielding action hero, a forced love interest and a story that you can see from the beginning its going to play out the way you’d expect it to. I don’t really have any problems with 80s action movies but a lot of them have the same story with relatively mirrored characters, these are movies your whole family can watch and it’s not gonna offend anyone because even though It’s an action movie it plays out extremely safe, I hate the word generic but this is generic. The opening scene to Big Trouble In Little Chinatown is probably the most interesting part of the film, although that does set a tone for the film that it never lives up to or builds upon.

I don’t really have much to say about Big Trouble In Little Chinatown, it’s not really bad, but that doesn’t mean it’s very good either, Big Trouble In Little Chinatown is a 6/10.

In 2016 i will be watching 365 films (yes, i know there are 366 days this year) and writing about how I felt about them, I decided to do this just because over the last year or so i’ve Sort of pulled away from film and I wanna start to enjoy watching movies again. This will normally be just notes I made or thoughts I have about the film.
